Nigeria pushes oil, gas and lithium reforms to boost industrial growth

Industry leaders called for coordinated reforms to transform Nigeria’s oil and gas sector from a resource‑based economy into a competitive engine of industrial growth. At the 25th NOG Energy Week in Abuja, Independent Petroleum Producers Group chairman Adegbite Falade praised recent government steps that raised production and attracted investment, but urged further action on infrastructure, gas development, tax and levy harmonisation and a comprehensive review of the Petroleum Industry Act to maximise value creation and job generation.

In Lagos, the Nigeria Energy Forum together with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa launched a report on the country’s lithium sector, urging the addition of value through processing and domestic manufacturing. The report highlights tools from the UN and African Union to support sustainable lithium production, linking critical minerals to reliable energy, industrialisation and export opportunities.
