Nigeria Reinforces Inclusive Education on Children’s Day
Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Dr Maruf (Tunji) Alausa, used the 2026 Children’s Day ceremony in Abuja to restate the federal government’s commitment to inclusive, quality education for every child. The event featured children from across the country and highlighted the advocacy of young disability activist and actress Dera Osadebe.
Alausa said, “Every Nigerian child deserves to feel seen, heard, encouraged and supported to achieve their dreams, regardless of background or circumstance,” and linked the celebration to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises child development, youth empowerment and expanded access to education. The ministry reaffirmed its support for policies that promote safe, inclusive learning environments nationwide.
