Nigeria reports fatal road crash and death of former NUJ chairman

In Adamawa State, a fatal road accident occurred along Girei Road, reportedly resulting in the deaths of six people. Ahmed Tijani Galadima, the APC governorship candidate for Adamawa, expressed condolences to the victims' families and called for increased road safety enforcement. He urged the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigeria Police to intensify their presence on accident-prone routes to prevent further loss of life.

Separately, Prof. Rufa’i Ahmed Alkali, a former political adviser, has mourned the death of Patrick Osadebamwen, the former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Federal Capital Territory Council. Alkali described Osadebamwen as a dedicated professional and a significant figure in journalism and democratic governance. Osadebamwen was scheduled for burial on September 5, 2026.
