Nigeria Rugby Football Federation hosts World Rugby development programme
The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) is hosting a three-day technical capacity-building programme in Abuja from September 10 to 12, 2026. The initiative involves educators from World Rugby and is described as the final planned visit under the federation’s current development programme.
The programme aims to strengthen Nigeria’s coaching and officiating structures through various training modules, including Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching, Level 1 and Level 2 Match Officiating, First Aid in Rugby, Intensive Care in Rugby (ICIR), and Safeguarding Essentials. Technical personnel will also undergo quality assurance assessments to ensure international standards.
The event will conclude with a Rugby 15s exhibition match on September 12. The NRFF has called upon coaches’ associations and the Referees Society to participate to help develop a more qualified workforce for the sport in the country.
