Nigeria SEC launches investor education and dividend recovery program in Nasarawa
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Nigeria has initiated a Capital Market Awareness, Unclaimed Funds and Investor Education Outreach Programme in Lafia, Nasarawa State. The initiative aims to promote financial literacy, strengthen investor protection, and expand participation in the Nigerian capital market.
A primary focus of the program is assisting the public in recovering unclaimed dividends and other investment assets. The SEC is also working to educate citizens on how to identify and guard against fraudulent investment schemes.
SEC Chairman Alhaji Mairiga Aliyu Katuka met with Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi A. Sule to discuss strengthening collaboration. As part of this partnership, the state government has provided office space in Lafia for a new SEC liaison office. This facility, located in the former State Ministry of Education complex, is expected to become operational soon to bring regulatory services closer to local residents and investors.
