Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps arrests students and pipeline vandals in separate operations

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested ten secondary school graduates in Adamawa State after they participated in the banned "Signed Out" final‑year celebration, which authorities said caused street fights, property damage and attempted robberies. The students, from schools such as Capital School and GDSS Demsawo, were accused of painting their bodies, tearing uniforms and disrupting public order. NSCDC officials pledged a thorough investigation and warned of stricter enforcement of the education ministry’s ban on the tradition.

In the Federal Capital Territory, NSCDC commandant Dr Olusola Odumosu announced the arrest of six men in Gwagwalada who had punctured Nigerian National Petroleum Company pipelines and siphoned Premium Motor Spirit into jerrycans. The suspects, aged 20‑32, were found with motorcycles, locally made firearms, drilling equipment and fuel containers. The operation, carried out by the anti‑vandal squad, also identified local collaborators and prompted repairs by the Nigeria Petroleum Storage Company. NSCDC emphasized its commitment to curbing pipeline sabotage, which it says threatens fuel supply and the environment.
