Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps calls for enhanced intelligence and infrastructure protection

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) is intensifying efforts to bolster national security through intelligence sharing and community involvement. In the Federal Capital Territory, the Corps recently completed a refresher training course for 264 private guard operatives. Commandant Dr. Olusola Odumosu instructed the trainees to move beyond routine duties by understanding their environments, identifying vulnerabilities, and promptly reporting suspicious activities to government agencies.

In Anambra State, the NSCDC has called on residents, specifically the youth, to take responsibility for protecting critical national and local infrastructure. State Commandant Maku Olatunde highlighted that the vandalism of assets such as electricity grids, pipelines, telecommunications towers, and water facilities threatens national security and economic growth. The Corps is encouraging increased vigilance and community-based surveillance to combat theft, sabotage, and illegal mining.
