Nigeria seeks Czech partnership for ammunition production and technology transfer

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammed Matawalle, led a delegation to the Czech Republic for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening defence-industrial cooperation.

During bilateral meetings with Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Lt. Gen. Jaromír Zuna (Rtd), Matawalle advocated for the establishment of an ammunition production line in Nigeria through a partnership with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON). The discussions also focused on the transfer of technology regarding military hardware, specifically emphasizing the development and production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The Nigerian delegation included senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, DICON, and the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI). The visit included attending a defence exhibition in Ostrava and touring various Czech defence and security industrial complexes to explore expanding Nigeria’s domestic manufacturing capacity.
