Nigeria seeks PPPs to develop critical minerals infrastructure
The Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) has stated that Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) are essential to developing the roads, rail, ports, and logistics infrastructure required to transport Nigeria’s critical minerals from mines to markets.
Speaking at the Nigeria-U.S. Critical Minerals and Infrastructure Investor Room Meeting during the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, ICRC Director-General Dr. Jobson Ewalefoh emphasized that the solid minerals collaboration between Nigeria and the United States requires supporting infrastructure to reach its full value. He noted that investment opportunities exist across the entire minerals value chain.
Ewalefoh highlighted that Nigeria has reformed relevant laws and established an enabling legal framework under President Bola Tinubu to protect investors. He also cited a seven billion dollar investment agreement with DP World for the Ogun State Deep Sea Port as a major milestone.
