Nigeria's headline inflation eased marginally in June 2026, falling to 15.91% from 15.93% in May. However, state‑by‑state data from the National Bureau of Statistics reveal that more than half of the country's sub‑national entities—19 states plus the Federal Capital Territory—recorded annual all‑items inflation above the 30% threshold.

The highest rates were observed in Niger (42.23%), Kogi (41.59%) and the FCT (39.91%). The lowest rate was in Imo at 19.47%, still well above the national average, underscoring the wide disparity in price pressures across regions. The report cautioned that state figures are not directly comparable because consumption baskets differ.

Food prices were especially volatile, with Kogi posting the peak annual food inflation of 53.02%, followed by Niger (43.83%) and Benue (40.83%).
