Nigeria sees two high‑profile murder trials progress in Oyo and Lagos

In Ibadan, Oyo State, the High Court adjourned the murder trial of former park manager Mukaila Lamidi, known as “Auxiliary,” to 15 July 2026 after the state counsel failed to file required documents. Lamidi faces a single count of murder for the September 2023 death of Wonuola Ayinde, who was allegedly knocked down with his vehicle.

In Lagos, the High Court heard the defence of 21‑year‑old Benjamin Nnayereugo, dubbed “Killaboi,” accused of killing his girlfriend Augusta Onuwabhagge. The defence argued the defendant feared a mob attack and detailed a dispute over luxury‑car purchases that escalated into the fatal incident. Both cases are being closely watched as prominent Nigerian murder prosecutions.
