Nigeria Senate President seeks stronger UK legislative ties

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called for enhanced legislative cooperation and expanded parliamentary exchanges between Nigeria and the United Kingdom. During a meeting in Abuja with British High Commissioner Peter Vowles, Akpabio emphasized the deep historical, cultural, and economic connections shared by the two nations.

Akpabio noted that existing exchanges, such as visits by members of the UK House of Commons to the Nigerian Senate and visits by Nigerian National Assembly committees to the British House of Lords and House of Commons, provide valuable learning opportunities. He expressed a desire to deepen these relationships through more frequent exchange programs to strengthen legislative processes and bilateral relations.
