Nigeria Senate probes oil sector revenues in NEITI audit

The Senate Public Accounts Committee in Nigeria has launched a two‑day oversight hearing on the oil and gas sector, beginning on 3 August at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja. The committee, chaired by Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, summoned the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), major international and indigenous oil companies, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) to answer questions arising from the NEITI Oil and Gas Industry Audit Reports for 2021‑2023.

The hearings will examine revenue collection, remittances, statutory obligations and operational compliance of ministries, agencies, government‑owned enterprises and oil operators, aiming to strengthen transparency, accountability and prudent management of Nigeria’s petroleum resources.
