Nigeria Senator Adams Oshiomhole Faces Backlash Over Defamatory Claims and Election Remarks

The Northern Democratic Front (NDF) condemned Senator Adams Oshiomhole for a series of unsubstantiated statements in a recent interview, including labeling NNPC staff as thieves, issuing an arrest warrant against former NNPC Managing Director Mele Kyari, and alleging that Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s daughter was appointed to the NNPC – claims the NDF called outright lies and demanded evidence.

In a separate response, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) criticised Oshiomhole’s comments about the 2027 presidential contest, where he suggested that opposition candidate Peter Obi would receive fewer votes than in 2023. NDC’s director of new media argued the remarks showed a “disconnection from reality” and reiterated the party’s confidence that Obi and the NDC would win the 2027 election.
