Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund expands workplace safety and legal protection initiatives
The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) is conducting a nationwide campaign to improve occupational safety and health (OSH) standards and expand legal protections for workers.
As part of its safety regulations programme, the NSITF is holding stakeholder engagements in Bauchi, Jos, and Kaduna. These sessions aim to provide employers with practical knowledge regarding risk prevention, incident investigation, and the implementation of effective safety policies. Attendance at these sessions has reportedly exceeded initial targets.
Additionally, the NSITF will participate in the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt. Led by Managing Director Oluwaseun Faleye, the session focuses on expanding the legal frontiers of workplace protection and social security. The discussions will address employer compliance, the legal implications of payroll under-declaration, and strategies to strengthen the implementation of the Employees’ Compensation Act (ECA 2010).
