Nigeria strengthens diplomatic ties with Serbia and the European Union

Nigeria is advancing multiple diplomatic fronts through renewed engagements with Serbia and the European Union. In Belgrade, Ambassador Abasi Ogwime Braimah presented his credentials to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, marking a commitment to deepen ties in trade, investment, education, and political engagement between the two nations.

Separately, Nigerian Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu met with EU Ambassador Gautier Mignot in Abuja to discuss cooperation regarding Nigeria’s 2027 general elections. The EU indicated it will deploy an expert mission to support the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and strengthen democratic institutions. Discussions also covered migration management, security, and combating human trafficking.
