Nigeria strengthens oil pipeline security to curb theft and boost production

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) in Delta State has intensified its anti‑vandalism campaign. Led by former militant Eshanekpe Israel, known as Akpodoro, the team, in cooperation with Operation Delta Safe, seized and destroyed more than 10,000 litres of illicit petroleum products in the Warri South‑West area, vowing to target other illegal bunkering sites.

In parallel, the federal government appointed Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd, headed by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), to provide continuous surveillance of oil pipelines in the Niger Delta. Stakeholders say the heightened security has reduced pipeline theft, lessened production disruptions and contributed to higher crude output, thereby improving national revenue and supporting economic stability.
