Nigeria striker Paul Onuachu rejects Turkish and Saudi offers to stay at Trabzonspor
Paul Onuachu, the 32‑year‑old Nigerian forward, confirmed he will remain with Turkish club Trabzonspor despite lucrative overtures. He finished the previous season as joint‑top scorer in the Süper Lig with 22 goals and helped the team win the Turkish Cup.
Offers included a reported €20 million bid from Fenerbahçe, which also proposed forward Oğuz Aydın, and interest from Galatasaray, Beşiktaş and German sides Bayer Leverkusen, VfL Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen. Saudi Pro League clubs Al‑Ahli and Al‑Hilal allegedly offered salaries four to five times his current pay, prompting Trabzonspor to lodge a complaint with FIFA over Al‑Ahli’s alleged unauthorized approach.
Onuachu said, “my heart didn't want to go anywhere other than Trabzon,” adding that “this is where I belong.” He is under contract until 2028, with the club valuing him at €25‑30 million and having rejected offers ranging from €11 million to €20 million.
