Nigeria targets 1 million outsourcing jobs and 10 million certified workers by 2030

The Nigerian government has launched the ‘Hire From Nigeria’ campaign, aiming to position the nation as a premier global hub for outsourcing and digitally enabled services. During the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, officials set ambitious targets to produce 10 million globally certified workers and create one million export-linked jobs by 2030.

Vice President Kashim Shettima and Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa emphasized that Nigeria’s large, English-speaking, and digitally capable youth population provides a strategic advantage to fill productivity gaps in industrialized nations. The initiative seeks to connect Nigerian professionals, creatives, and digital experts with international markets through a private sector-led, government-supported framework.

To achieve these goals, the Ministry of Education is focusing on curriculum reform, stronger accreditation, and expanded technical training to bridge the gap between current skills and international employer requirements. Additionally, new data localization directives from the Central Bank of Nigeria will require financial institutions to store payment transaction data domestically starting in 2027, potentially driving demand for local digital infrastructure.
