Nigeria targets November 2026 to complete National Single Window project
The Nigerian Federal Government has set a deadline of November 2026 to complete the second phase of the National Single Window project. Announced by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, during a stakeholder meeting in Abuja, the initiative aims to modernize the nation’s trade system by eliminating bureaucratic barriers.
The second phase of the digital platform is designed to address fragmentation, duplicated paperwork, and poor coordination among regulatory agencies. By integrating export-related permits, certifications, inspections, and payments into a single digital framework, the government intends to reduce costs and delays for exporters. This reform is part of President Bola Tinubu’s broader economic strategy to diversify the economy and increase non-oil exports.
Since becoming operational in March 2024, the National Single Window has processed over 124,000 licenses and permits, registered more than 11,000 importers and agents, and facilitated approximately N12.59 billion in regulatory payments. Minister Oduwole emphasized that the project's success will be measured by the speed and predictability of the export process for businesses rather than just the number of connected agencies.
