Nigeria targets two million creative sector jobs by 2030
Nigeria's Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has announced a federal target to create two million jobs within the creative industry by 2030. This goal is part of the government's Renewed Hope Agenda and the “Destination Nigeria” initiative.
Speaking at the 2026 Kano Creative Summit, Musawa highlighted the economic potential of Kano’s cultural heritage, including indigo dyeing, leatherwork, and the Kannywood film industry. She emphasized the importance of professionalizing the sector by protecting intellectual property and separating personal and business finances. The minister also called for the revival of cultural sites and the implementation of community-based training to preserve traditional skills.
