President Bola Tinubu has officially launched the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential campaign council in Abuja. While the council is now active, Tinubu indicated he will not participate in every campaign event, opting to focus on governance and international economic obligations rather than a full national tour. He plans to personally visit 12 states, including Lagos and Kaduna.

In Ekiti State, the President cautioned political figures against creating distractions for Governor Biodun Oyebanji by declaring early interest in the 2030 governorship contest. Represented by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele at a thanksgiving service for Oyebanji’s second term, Tinubu warned that premature ambitions could derail state governance.

Simultaneously, political alignments are shifting as various opposition leaders join the APC campaign council. In Osun State, the alliance between Tinubu and Governor Ademola Adeleke is being viewed by local socio-political groups as a pragmatic move to secure federal social investment funds and infrastructure projects for the state.
