Nigeria to Broadcast 2026 Commonwealth Games Free-to-Air Nationwide
The National Sports Commission (NSC) of Nigeria has sealed a partnership with What Network, a free‑to‑air broadcast company, to deliver live, free‑to‑air coverage of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games across the country. The broadcast will be shown on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Television Continental (TVC) and other terrestrial stations, with additional streaming on NSC TV’s YouTube channel and What Network’s digital platforms.
Director‑General Bukola Olopade said the deal will enable every Nigerian, at home or abroad, to watch Team Nigeria’s performances from the opening ceremony on 23 July through the entire event, supplemented by a daily two‑hour highlights programme featuring medal wins, athlete interviews and behind‑the‑scenes reports. The initiative aims to boost the visibility of Nigerian athletes, inspire the next generation and create sponsorship and investment opportunities for the nation’s sports industry. Notable athletes expected to compete include world‑record holder Tobi Amusan, sprinter Kayinsola Ajayi, shot‑putter Chukwuebuka Enekwechi and para‑weightlifter Folashade Oluwafemiayo.
