Nigeria announces N5.75tn bond target and N2.43tn revenue distribution

Nigeria’s Debt Management Office (DMO) has announced plans to raise N5.75 trillion through Federal Government (FGN) bonds in the fourth quarter of 2026. This includes an upcoming auction on October 19 for N1.75 trillion in reopened bonds. The offer consists of a N500 billion 10-year bond at 19% interest, an N800 billion 10-year bond at 16.79% interest, and a N450 billion 15-year bond at 15.45% interest.

Separately, the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has distributed N2.428 trillion in revenue for September 2026 among the Federal Government, 36 states, and 774 local government councils. The distributable sum included N1.672 trillion in statutory revenue and N756.587 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT). While statutory revenue saw an increase compared to August, VAT revenue experienced a decline of approximately N17.972 billion during the same period.
