Nigeria Tourism Authority and Diaspora Commission forge tourism partnership
The Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM/NIDCOM) signed a partnership during a courtesy visit by NTDA Director‑General Olayiwola Awakan to NiDCOM Chair‑CEO Abike Dabiri‑Erewa in Abuja. The agencies agreed to deepen collaboration on diaspora tourism and the Door of Return initiative, aiming to attract Nigerians and people of African descent living abroad.
Key actions include rebranding tourism assets across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, promoting events such as the Naija Flavour International Tourism Expo and a proposed NAIJA FEST national festival, and launching a Diaspora Internship Programme in the United Kingdom. Both sides highlighted the potential to boost investment, create jobs, improve Nigeria’s international image, and use cultural heritage as a driver of economic diversification and national development.
