Nigeria tourism federation seeks law overhaul as agencies plan Ghana trade retreat

The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) urged the federal government to review the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) Act and the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) Act, calling for their return to the National Assembly to resolve regulatory conflicts and ongoing litigation. FTAN highlighted its Tourism Transformation Mandate as a strategic blueprint and announced plans to relaunch the Nigeria Tourism Investors Forum and Exhibition (NTIFE) as a regional investment platform, with the COPITOUR Executive Meeting slated for Abuja in 2026.

Separately, the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) organised a seven‑day executive council retreat in Ghana’s Safari World, supported by Ibom Air. The mission aims to deepen bilateral tourism trade, foster B2B partnerships, and address visa and air‑connectivity issues under the African Continental Free Trade Area, positioning Ghana as a top West African destination for Nigerian travelers.
