Nigeria tourism stakeholders demand infrastructure upgrades and policy reforms

At the 9th Nigeria Tourism Investors Forum and Exhibition (NTIFE) in Abuja, tourism stakeholders urged the government to improve infrastructure, develop destinations and adopt enabling state policies to boost the sector’s contribution to the national economy.

Participants highlighted needs such as better roads, airport modernization, a dedicated tourist police, incentives for investors, streamlined regulations and clearer legal frameworks. FTAN President Dr Aliyu Badaki called for a review of tourism laws to eliminate duplication and litigation, while Minister Hannatu Musawa described tourism as a strategic pillar for diversifying Nigeria’s oil‑dependent economy and creating jobs.
