Nigeria trains 60 veterinarians to eradicate PPR by 2030
The Nigerian Federal Ministry of Livestock Development has launched a training program for over 60 veterinarians aimed at eradicating Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR) in sheep and goats by 2030.
Organized in collaboration with the African Union Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR), the training workshop in Nasarawa State focuses on standardized protocols for animal health surveillance, sample collection, and digital data capture. Dr. Samuel Anzaku, Chief Veterinary Officer of Nigeria, stated that the initiative is part of a validated National Strategic Plan to strengthen animal health monitoring and secure national food security and revenue.
