Nigeria U-17 Flamingos defeat Burkina Faso 2-0 in WAFU B Cup

Nigeria’s U-17 girls national team, the Flamingos, secured a 2-0 victory against Burkina Faso at the WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup. The match, held at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, saw Nigeria maintain a perfect record with nine points from three matches.

Despite dominating possession and creating early opportunities, the Flamingos struggled to penetrate a resolute Burkinabe defense throughout much of the game. The deadlock was finally broken in the 82nd minute by Mary Dunstan. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi added a second goal during stoppage time to seal the win.

Head coach Akeem Busari praised his team’s patience, noting that the tactical approach used by Burkina Faso made it difficult to find space early on. He emphasized the importance of calmness for the young players as they continue their unbeaten run in the tournament.
