Nigeria U17 Flamingos defeat Ghana 4–2 in WAFU B tournament
Nigeria’s U17 Flamingos defeated Ghana 4–2 in a WAFU B Girls Tournament match held in Yamoussoukro. Despite being reduced to ten players in the 59th minute following a red card for defender Elizabeth Adesuyi, Nigeria maintained control. Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and captain Harmony Chidi provided a 2–0 halftime lead. Following Ghana’s reduction of the deficit to 2–1, Nigeria responded with goals from Mary Dunstan and Kaosarat Akanji. Ghana’s Gloria Ameaa scored a late goal to finalize the score at 4–2.
Ahead of their upcoming fixture against Togo, Ghana’s assistant coach Edna Quagraine stated the Black Maidens intend to stick to their established playing philosophy. Quagraine noted that the tournament has served as a vital learning experience to identify faults and make corrections in preparation for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
