Nigeria U17 women's team begins World Cup camp in Abuja
Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, known as the Flamingos, has begun preparations for the upcoming FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup. Head coach Hakeem Busari has invited 26 players to participate in the first phase of final camping in Abuja.
The tournament is scheduled to take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 7. Nigeria secured its qualification for the global finals after defeating the Benin Republic in both legs of the final round of the African qualifying campaign.
The invited squad includes three goalkeepers, seven defenders, eight midfielders, and six forwards. Players were instructed to report to the Serob Legacy Hotel in Wuye, Abuja, on August 30, 2026. Nigeria has been a consistent participant in the tournament since its inception in 2008, missing only the 2018 edition in Uruguay.
