Nigeria Union of Journalists addresses media professionalism in Niger State

The Niger State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has addressed professional standards and recognition within the media sector.

Comrade Abu Nmodu, Chairman of the NUJ Niger State Council, expressed concern regarding the rise of content creators who pose as journalists. Nmodu stated that these non-professionals are responsible for spreading misinformation and disinformation, particularly regarding local government affairs. He urged state and local governments to cease working with content creators and instead rely on trained information officers to ensure verified reporting.

Separately, the NUJ Correspondents Chapel in Niger State congratulated Mohammed Baba Bussu, the Zonal Manager of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Minna office, on his induction as a member of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE). The induction took place during the 22nd National Conference of the Guild in Enugu, where Bussu was presented with his membership certificate by Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State.
