Nigeria Union of Journalists announces media icon awards and Delta State election results

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has announced the “NUJ Milestone Recognition of Media Icons in Nigeria,” an event scheduled to take place in Abuja. The initiative will honor 20 outstanding journalists from print and electronic media for their long-standing achievements. The ceremony, organized by the national leadership, will also recognize two state governors for their support of media development. This year’s recognition coincides with the 71st anniversary of the NUJ’s founding.

In Delta State, the NUJ Council held elections in Asaba, marking the first participation of the Oasis Magazine Chapel since its July 2024 inauguration. The incumbent chairman, Comrade Oyowe, was re-elected for a second term. Following the election, Oasis Magazine Publisher Daniel Umukoro called for unity and inclusive leadership within the new administration to prevent internal divisions.
