Nigeria Union of Journalists to host 2026 Press Week

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Lagos Chapel have announced the 2026 Press Week, scheduled for September 21 to September 25, 2026. The event will focus on the theme: ‘2027 and Nigeria’s Future: Impact of Politics on Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Industry and Economy — The Role of the Media.’

The symposium aims to examine how political developments and decisions influence Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, government revenue, investment, energy security, and employment. It will bring together journalists, policymakers, industry experts, and economists to discuss these issues ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Vivian Ihechu, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, emphasized that the media holds a critical responsibility to provide accurate information and hold political leaders and public institutions accountable to strengthen democratic governance.
