Nigeria unveils National Youth Confab 2026 initiative
The Nigerian Federal Government has announced the National Youth Confab 2026, scheduled for October. The initiative, themed ‘Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future’, aims to involve young Nigerians in shaping national policies and development.
Minister of Youth Development Ayodele Olawande stated that the process will begin with a two-week virtual consultation for Nigerians aged 18 to 35, including those in the diaspora. A digital portal managed by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) will be used to collect ideas and policy proposals.
The physical conference in Abuja will include one delegate from each of Nigeria’s 360 federal constituencies, along with diaspora representatives and stakeholders. Discussions will focus on six priority areas: governance and political participation; economic transformation and job creation; education and future skills; technology and digital transformation; climate change and energy transition; and social harmony and security.
