Nigeria urges influence‑based leadership and diaspora athlete investment in youth

At the International Coaching Week 2026 conference in Lagos, business leaders and former minister Dr Okechukwu Enelamah called for a shift from command‑style leadership to influence‑driven approaches, emphasizing coaching, trust and listening as essential for modern governance and youth development.

Separately, Abike Dabiri‑Erewa, chair of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, appealed to Nigerian athletes abroad to actively invest in and support African youth, urging them to contribute resources and mentorship to foster the next generation.

Both initiatives highlight a push for new leadership models and increased diaspora involvement to strengthen Nigeria’s future prospects.
