Nigeria Vice President Kashim Shettima urges Plateau youth to reject ethnic hatred

Vice President Kashim Shettima addressed residents of Plateau State during the 80th birthday celebration and autobiography launch of former governor Senator Jonah David Jang in Jos. He called on the younger generation to break the cycle of revenge and reject ethnic profiling, stating that “criminals have no tribe or religion” and do not represent any community.

Shettima urged elders to guide youths toward forgiveness, warning that blaming entire ethnic or religious groups deepens divisions and fuels violence. He emphasized the need for reconciliation to achieve lasting peace in a region he described as strategically important to Nigeria’s security.
