Nigeria Volleyball Federation appoints Japanese coach Ryan Masajedi
The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) announced the appointment of Japanese tactician Ryan Masajedi as technical adviser and head coach of the men’s and women’s national volleyball teams. Masajedi, who previously coached Japan and Bangladesh, will introduce Japanese coaching philosophy focused on technical discipline and tactical innovation.
The unveiling ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on 4 August 2026 at the Indoor Sports Hall in Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. NVBF officials said the move aims to raise the sport’s technical standards and improve Nigeria’s competitiveness ahead of the 2026 CAVB African Women’s Nations Cup in Nairobi.
In a related development, the federation selected 26 players for a training camp at the High Performance Centre in Abuja to prepare for the tournament. NVBF media committee chairman Godspower Odedede highlighted the appointment as a milestone in building a solid technical foundation for sustained success.
