Nigeria wins opening matches of T20 Quadrangular Series

The Nigeria T20 Quadrangular Series commenced at the TBS Cricket Oval in Lagos with two victories for the host nation.

In the opening match, Nigeria A defeated Sierra Leone by 33 runs. After electing to field, Sierra Leone restricted Nigeria A to 113/8 in 20 overs, with Taiwo Mohammed contributing 28 runs and Olaleye Olayinka Elijah adding 25. In response, Sierra Leone was bowled out for 80 in 19.5 overs. Ndubudem Elochukwu David led the bowling effort with figures of 3 for 10, while Mustapha Yussuff also took three wickets.

In the second match, the senior Nigerian national team secured an eight-wicket win over Ghana. After Ghana won the toss and batted first, they were restricted to 91/9 in their 20 overs. Miracle Akhigbe and Chima Akachukwu each claimed two wickets. Nigeria chased down the target in 13 overs, reaching 95/2, led by Isaac Danladi’s unbeaten 52.
