Nigeria women's football teams advance in regional and Olympic qualifying

Nigeria’s national women’s football teams have reached significant milestones in regional and international preparations. The Flamingos, Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, have returned to Abuja following their victory in the WAFU-B tournament. The squad is now shifting focus toward preparations for the 2027 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

Simultaneously, interim Super Falcons head coach Augustine Eguavoen has named a 28-player squad for the upcoming 2028 Olympic Games qualifying matches against Comoros. The roster includes prominent players such as captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and forward Asisat Oshoala.

The qualifying fixtures are scheduled for October, with the first leg hosted by Comoros on October 9 and the return leg held at the Remo Stars Sports Stadium in Nigeria on October 13. The Falcons must win on aggregate to advance to the third round of the qualifying series.
