Nigeria Works Minister David Umahi Urges Autopsy After Physiotherapist's Death
Physiotherapist Mary Habila died suddenly at Minister of Works David Umahi's country home in Uburu, Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Umahi renewed his call for an autopsy, saying a scientific examination is the only way to establish the cause of death. He expressed shock and condolences, noted that emergency steps were taken – medical staff, including the chief medical director of the David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, were contacted and the police were notified – and appealed for the public to refrain from speculation. The family declined the autopsy recommendation. Both articles identify Habila and her colleague Anita Baski as employees of the university who had been on secondment to the Ministry of Works for three years.
