Nigerian Army and Immigration Service to bolster Yobe border security

The Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) have committed to enhancing collaboration to improve border security and migration management in Yobe State.

During a meeting in Damaturu, Brigadier General Edet Effiong, Commander of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, met with the newly posted Comptroller of the NIS Yobe State Command, Comptroller IZ Abubakar. Effiong emphasized that coordinated border surveillance, effective information sharing, and engagement with border communities are vital to disrupting terrorism, human trafficking, smuggling, and irregular migration.

Effiong noted that a well-coordinated security architecture is necessary to prevent criminal and terrorist elements from exploiting border gaps. He highlighted that increased professionalism and the use of technology would improve monitoring and operational effectiveness. In response, Comptroller Abubakar pledged to deepen synergy between the agencies and enhance personnel capacity and operational readiness to secure the region.
