Nigerian Army Arrests Two Boko Haram Informants and Cattle Rustlers in Yobe State

Operation HADIN KAI troops arrested two suspected Boko Haram informants and cattle rustlers during a joint intelligence‑led raid at the Buni Yadi Friday Market in Gujba Local Government Area, Yobe State on July 24. The suspects were identified as Muhammadu Sani, 32, from Mainahari village in Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, and Buba Umaru, 40, from Garin Jauro in Fune Local Government Area of Yobe State. Both men allegedly served as logistics suppliers and informants for Boko Haram for nearly seven years and were involved in cattle rustling. The operation turned violent when one suspect attacked a local hunter with a cutlass, injuring the hunter’s head. Troops recovered three locally fabricated AK‑47 rifles, a locally made pistol, ammunition and four mobile phones linked to the suspects. Both men are now in the custody of the 27 Task Force Brigade for further investigation, as the military continues efforts to disrupt insurgent logistics and protect communities in Nigeria’s northeast.
