Nigerian Army Chief commissions housing and helipad in Kaduna

Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff of Nigeria, has commissioned two new infrastructure projects in Kaduna aimed at improving personnel welfare and operational capabilities.

At Ribadu Cantonment, Shaibu commissioned new blocks of flats for officers. The project, initiated during General Olufemi Oluyede’s tenure as Chief of Army Staff, is part of an effort to reduce accommodation deficits and improve the living conditions of military personnel and their families. Shaibu also inspected ongoing construction of additional soldier accommodation at the same site.

Additionally, a new helipad was commissioned at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital (44 NARH) in Kaduna. This facility is designed to facilitate the rapid emergency air evacuation of wounded soldiers from operational theaters to medical care, a move intended to increase survival rates and maintain troop morale. Shaibu emphasized that the ability to move wounded personnel quickly is ‘non-negotiable’ for military effectiveness.
