Colonel Abdussalam Ude Killed in Abuja Attack
Colonel Abdussalam Ude, a senior officer of the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps, was shot dead when gunmen attacked his residence in the Kurudu district of Abuja on the night of 27 July 2026. The assailants attempted to abduct the colonel; he resisted and was fatally wounded. His wife, driver and security guard suffered gunshot injuries and were taken to hospital.
The Defence Intelligence Agency confirmed the killing, announced a full investigation and a manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators. Nigerian security agencies have also launched inquiries. The colonel, an Enugu State native, had served in key intelligence and counter‑terrorism roles and had been deployed on missions to Chad and France. He was slated for promotion to brigadier general in the coming year. Federal Capital Territory police later clarified that the incident actually took place in Badna, Nasarawa State, not within the FCT.
Investigations remain ongoing and authorities have pledged to bring those responsible to justice.
