Nigerian Army detains two soldiers for unauthorised security at Peller and Jarvis wedding
The Nigerian Army has detained Private Onasanya Ifeoluwa and Private Ukpai Onyinyechi, both attached to the 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital in Obalende, Lagos. The soldiers were arrested after intelligence linked them to an unauthorised deployment providing security at the high‑profile wedding of social‑media personalities Habeeb Hamzat (known as Peller) and Amadou Aminata (known as Jarvis) in Lekki, Lagos. Video footage from the ceremony showed the troops in uniform acting as bouncers and escorting guests, including TikTok creator Ivanna.
Army spokesperson Lt‑Col. Musa Yahaya confirmed the arrests and reiterated that serving personnel are prohibited from undertaking private security duties without official approval. A preliminary inquiry is underway to determine the extent of the soldiers' involvement and whether other military staff participated. The incident has drawn public criticism for appearing to contravene a federal directive that withdrew police and military escorts from individuals not entitled to such protection.
