Anambra security forces kill six suspected gunmen in Ogbaru raid

A joint security operation in the Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State resulted in the deaths of six suspected members of an armed group, identified in some reports as secessionists linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its Eastern Security Network (ESN) wing.

The operation involved a multi-agency team including the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Navy, the 302 Artillery Regiment, and local community-based security operatives. After trekking for approximately four hours through dense palm forests and difficult terrain, the team engaged the suspects in a prolonged gun battle.

During the encounter, one security operative was killed and another was injured following the detonation of a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) planted in the area. Security forces recovered two pump-action guns, motorcycles, and materials believed to be used for manufacturing IEDs. The camps and structures used by the group were dismantled during the raid.
