Nigerian Army explores partnerships to modernize healthcare facilities

The Nigerian Army is exploring public-private partnerships (PPP) to modernize its healthcare facilities and infrastructure. Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, met with a high-level delegation to discuss strategic collaborations aimed at strengthening medical delivery for personnel and their families.

The delegation was led by former Chief of Army Staff, retired Lieutenant General Tukur Burtai, and included private sector operators and international diplomatic partners. Proposed areas of collaboration include upgrading hospitals, providing modern medical equipment, offering pharmaceutical support, and deploying digital health solutions across all Army establishments.

Lieutenant General Shaibu emphasized that the health and well-being of soldiers are central to his ‘Soldier First’ philosophy, noting that quality healthcare is critical to the army’s operational readiness and its transformation into a more professional and resilient force. The delegation included representatives from Honey Star Resources Limited, Moharram & Partners, and Elevate Egypt, among others.
