Nigerian Army redeploys senior generals in strategic reshuffle

The Nigerian Army has announced a major redeployment of senior officers to strengthen its response to evolving security threats. Approved by Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the reshuffle involves the movement of 15 generals across various command, operational, and staff appointments.

A central component of the realignment is the appointment of Major General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose as the new Theatre Commander for the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation HADIN KAI. Ajose succeeds Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, who has been reassigned to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre as Dean of the Faculty of Operational Research.

The reshuffle also includes several other high-level changes:

• Major General Aminu Umar has been appointed Commandant of the Army War College Nigeria. • Major General GS Muhammed has moved to the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation as Director-General. • Major General Julius Osifo has been appointed Chairman of the Military Pension Board.

According to Army spokesperson Colonel Appolonia Anele, these strategic postings are intended to ensure that leadership with the necessary expertise is positioned in critical operational theatres to enhance effectiveness against insurgent groups such as Boko Haram and ISWAP.
