Nigerian Army Major General Auwalu Mahmuda conducts operational tours
Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Nigerian Army's 2 Division, has conducted maiden operational tours of various units, including the 12 Brigade in Lokoja and the 32 Artillery Brigade in Akure.
During his visit to the 12 Brigade, Mahmuda commended troops for recent successes, specifically the rescue of 15 National Youth Service Corps members and six civilians abducted in Kogi State. He emphasized the strategic importance of Kogi State as a corridor to the eastern and southern regions and urged troops to maintain a high operational tempo to deny criminal elements freedom of movement.
In addressing the 32 Artillery Brigade, the GOC urged soldiers to sustain an aggressive posture against security threats. He noted that while the Army is prioritizing troop welfare through the ‘Soldiers First Concept’ and recent salary increments, such support requires increased discipline and professionalism. He warned troops against substance abuse and the misuse of social media to maintain the reputation of the Nigerian Army.
